Our Mission

Stories of Newark is a project of Bloomfield College. We seek to document current and past struggles for racial equality in the political, economic, and cultural landscapes of the metropolitan Newark region. By interviewing everyday Newarkers active in arts and racial justice work we seek to amplify and celebrate Newarkers’ voices, experiences, and contributions.
This Project is supported by a grant from the New Jersey Council for the Humanities with funding from the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) through the American Rescue Plan Act and from the CIC Legacies of American Slavery initiative. Any views, findings, conclusions, or recommendations expressed in this project do not necessarily represent those of the National Endowment for the Humanities or the New Jersey Council for the Humanities.
